Salt Lake City ski trip ski trip (December 2007):
Our 13th annual ski excursion to Utah was another resounding success thanks to trip leader Darlene Little and surprisingly good ski conditions for this early in the ski season. This was another smooth trip with no travel “incidents” as experienced on some occasions in the past .
Alta on the first day provided the best snow (since it was relatively fresh) and the “mandatory” run on Challenger (moguls et al.) was so good that we did it a second time (a rare event!). But it was very, very cold (just above zero degrees) making us really appreciate and enjoy beer-thirty that much sooner at the Goldminer’s Daughter at the end of the day (see picture below).
Solitude the next day was almost as cold (definitely face-mask weather) with good snow. The highlight of the day was undoubtedly Gunter’s continental lunch dessert (pancakes and ice cream) at the Creek Side Inn (with a new Swedish chef) which he refused to share with anyone.
Deer Valley and Park City provided the best weather for the last two ski days. It was quite a bit warmer which made the long cruiser runs that much more enjoyable. Former member Donna Buys, now a “local” here, gave us an excellent tour of the area. Thanks Donna!
