Ski Racing: DDSC participates in ski racing activities under the auspices of the San Diego Ski Council. The races are held typically at Mammoth Mountain. Travel to Mammoth is informally arranged/organized (i.e., there are no "formal" club trips for this purpose) by our racing director for all those interested in this activity. This coming season our threeMammoth Midweek ski trips will tie in with three racing weekends at Mammoth. Any questions? Want answers? Want to join the race team? Can you race twice during the season? Need more information? Ask our Race Director, Carl Cobb, at the monthly meeting or call him at 619-222-5015.

* For those unfamiliar with the handicapping system used for the races, the S1 through S10 are classifications in which each racer competes. These classes are based upon the racers gender, experience, speed and other factors. The assignment of racers to classes is complicated and highly debated by most of ski clubs in the alpine LEAGUE. So our skiers just do their best each time they compete and ski down the mountain and it is beautiful that they seem to get a metal no matter how the classes are configured. The system attempts to be fair to everyone and the final outcome desired is that everyone have a good time.

We also had superb results the prior ski season (2002 - 2003) at the SICO championships at Mammoth on March 8 and 9 (2003) winning 7 gold medals between 6 racers.
